No no no. Nothing is falling except snow.

Here is a new pattern! Had loads of fun designing and knitting on my snow day!

Pattern: London Ridge Beret – Ravelink’d!
Yarn: Red Heart Soft Solid in Grape, 1 skein
Needles: set of 5 US#6 dpn

I still have three patterns to write up, pdf, and get them ready for the world. The three troublemakers; Riphraph Mitts, Snowden, and Northwoods Lodge Mittens.

I think it is about time to gather and discuss good things in life. There has been far too much grief and sorrow going around that it needs to have a quarantine. It is easier to focus on the bad and with that we are quickly blind-sighted from the good things that happen. We mostly remember dramatic instances of our life rather than the calm ones. I would like to focus more on the tranquil moments and calculate how abundant life is with them. You should try it as well. I am sure that it will lift off heavy burdens and make you smile. It sort of reminds me and, to be honest, is exactly like the scene with Julie Andrews in The Sound of Music singing “My Favorite Things”. Other terms could be move, inspire, entice, squee…your choice.

Warm jasmine tea served in a favorite mug, breathing deep and feeling the lungs resonate with life, cats dreaming while their whiskers flicker from time to time, watching snow fall from a window curled up safe and warm, studying bird behavior at the feeder, a good pair of cozy, hand knit socks, a book that lingers because it is too good to finish, nonsense words put together whose syllables roll of the tongue pleasantly, burying feet in sand, the weight of good paper as you turn pages, the aesthetics of holding chopsticks, practicing calligraphy with various vials of ink, scrolls tied up with ribbons, the mesmerizing quality of fire, listening to chipmunks playing in fall leaves, primal screams in wide open places and in long corridors that echo, a good trance beat to let the body go.

I am always curious about what things make people smile. I think you can begin to intimately know an individual with this question. What moves you?

I guess I never gave updates really to the whole “tumor” issue. I am sorry I didn’t get around to it.
EVERYTHING is just FINE. No cancer cells to be heard of. Thanks again to everyone for all your kind comments and wishes. I believed they helped! It is nice to know people like you! (You know who you are..)

As a knitter I am constantly finding ways to complicate things. Like signing up for knitting a sock each month for a year (which I know I won’t do because deadlines give me the geebies), taking a simple pattern and plugging in tons of cables and lace to turn it into the pattern of mass destruction or never having the right tools to complete a task that then takes three times as long to do. I never learn my lesson and instantly regret blurting out my commitments.

I haven’t finished the Cobblestone Pullover yet…but instead have casted on for…the February Lady, a beret, a pair of mitts, a pair of socks, some handspinning, a baby sweater, some other baby paraphernalia, plus others that I have forgotten but they are in the travel bag somewhere. Knitter ADD (KADD) is striking everywhere.

I am at the point of setting up alters to bring in good concentration vibes that hopefully I can remember and complete:

house cleaning and organizing
finishing up loose end projects
dropping off recycling
dropping off donations
signing up for more photo storage on Flickr

Real life gets in the way of creativity and I need to find a happy medium between the two.
